Stoupa - West Mani

Stoupa is a seaside village of Messinian Mani, located 45 km from Kalamata and 55 km from the airport. It is a village that fascinates visitors all year round, enticing them to make Stoupa their permanent destination. In summer the sea and the clean sand are a challenge for lovers of the wet element. Stoupa has two beaches, the beach of Stoupa and the famous beach of Kalogria.

Nikos Kazantzakis and Alexis Zorbas lived in this beach for 2 years (1917 – 1918). This is where the Cretan writer inspired his world-famous work of the same name. Today, half of the tourists visiting the area have the book “Zorbas” in their hands (the other half, of course, have the book “Mani”, by Patrick Leigh Fermor).
